Constraining Uncertainty in Future Global Climate Projections

From September to December 2023, I worked as a research assistant for the EU-funded project CONSTRAIN. The CONSTRAIN project provided detailed knowledge to support available climate science reports in between IPCC cycles to address and inform international policymakers. It was made up of a consortium of European partners with a specific aim to reduce uncertainty in future global climate projections.

In my role as an artist, I conducted a series of interviews with researchers to investigate the emotional significance of their data-driven work. As a result of our conversations, I produced a large scroll painting exploring the emotional complexity of climate models. I was deeply interested in the concept of uncertainty, how climate models reflect this variability in their structure and how the real and felt consequences of climate change parallel this unknowability.

This work was displayed at the COP28 Science for Climate Action Pavilion.
