Descoverartists: Residency in Hydra

In June 2022, I completed a three-week residency with Descoverartists on the Greek Island of Hydra. The time spent with seven other women creating, learning and talking allowed for an expansion in my practice towards gestural storytelling. The primary output from this time was photographic, and the sketches and cyanotypes I made informed a practice of working from memory after the residency had ended. The island and its stories sparked a deep interest in the coastline for me, a theme that I revisit throughout my practice. I learnt that the time spent looking and absorbing generates a connection to place beyond the moment, and as a result, I have placed attention on gathering, collecting and reflecting as an art output itself.
